Title: Do you know graffiti vandal ^Hiace!^ - Exeter Post by: Chris from Nailsea on March 06, 2012, 21:09:31 From the British Transport Police press release (http://www.btp.presscentre.com/Media-Releases/Do-you-know-graffiti-vandal-Hiace-Exeter-195d.aspx):
Quote British Transport Police is calling on the public to help trace graffiti vandal who struck in Exeter. Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) are appealing for information after a train was targeted by a graffiti vandal using the tag ^Hiace!^. The vandal struck between 1am and 5am on Thursday, 1 March 2012 while the South West Trains unit was stabled overnight at a railway yard in Exeter. Investigating officer, Stewart Warne, of BTP Exeter, said: ^Graffiti and the spreading of tags on trains and railway property amounts to vandalism, pure and simple. This has no artistic merit and costs the rail industry huge sums of money to clean up. ^Within BTP, we have officers specially trained to trace graffiti vandals and we are working to identify and apprehend ^Hiace!^. But, at the moment, we need assistance from the public to put an abrupt stop to this person^s criminal behaviour. ^We are also working closely with our colleagues in the rail industry to trace those responsible, and enquiries ^ including retrieving and viewing CCTV from the surrounding area ^ are ongoing^ If you have any information about the graffiti and can identify ^Hiace!^, please call British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. In all calls please quote incident reference B5/WWA of 06/03/2012. Title: Re: Do you know graffiti vandal ^Hiace!^ - Exeter Post by: Bob_Blakey on March 07, 2012, 06:47:24 There is currently a significant problem with graffiti-based vandalism along the River Exe corridor of the city.
Looking at the 'tags' I would guess that no more than a dozen of the local scrotes are largely responsible, with '5bc' / 'Sbc' & 'wreks' being the main culprits. The city council do a pretty good job of cleaning the public areas but obviously will not touch private property, including that owned by NR - the railway bridge over the flood channel immediately south of EXD is particularly bad.
