From the Post (http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Rail-line-suicide-followed-break/story-16710455-detail/story.html):

Rail-line suicide followed break-up

A heartbroken lover took his own life on Valentine's Day after breaking up with his girlfriend, an inquest has found.

James Andrews, 24, was killed after lying down in front of a train on the Bristol to Bath railway line near St Anne's Park on February 14.

British Transport Police officer John Wilson said that the train which hit Mr Andrews had been travelling at around 50 to 55mph. He said: "The driver first saw him about 15 yards away and, despite his best efforts, the weight and speed of the train meant it was too late."

Assistant Coroner Terrence Moore recorded a verdict of suicide.

Most people who are thinking of taking their own life have given warning signs beforehand. These can include becoming depressed or withdrawn, showing sudden changes in behaviour or mood, talking about wanting to die and feelings of hopelessness.

These feelings do improve and can be treated. If you are concerned about someone, or need help yourself, please contact the Samaritans on 08457 909090 day or night.
