What are those trains formed of? Either its a very, very, short HST or a 2x 166/5. I imagine outrour either way! Anybody know what its formed of? Title: Re: 6 Coach Train. Eh? Title: Re: 6 Coach Train. Eh? Post by: Tickets Please on November 15, 2007, 17:42:27 it has no coach 'E' and no coach 'G'

Also 3 between Swindon and Basset JCN and 4 between Chippenham and BAth!Title: Re: 6 Coach Train. Eh? Post by: Mookiemoo on November 15, 2007, 22:50:11 could it be one of the shorter HST's FGW are replacing the adelantes on oxford/ hereford > pad? okay.... well lets not try it with the 1822 Tonight it was full to bursting. i know this cos I was late due to tube getting held and legging it up the platform and diving onto the train in the first carriage as the doors locked behind me - only to discover it was in reverse formation and I had to make myself very unpopular as I fought through five carriages of not even standing room to get to coach F. I apologies to the woman who complained I trod on her shopping but if she will leave it in the aisle and it is more than a strides length I cant help it and at >1K per month I am not standing all the way to reading (I would have waited for the 1922 if I didnt already know it was a 2 car 165 + 1 car 166 in lieu of an adelante as per bloody usual these days). I can only assume the 1752 was cancelled or that they made the 1815 first stop Swindon (again). Title: Re: 6 Coach Train. Eh? Post by: Ollie on November 15, 2007, 22:55:17 18:15 did have it's stop at Reading removed.
17:52 iirc ran as booked. 19:22 was a 3 car turbo. Title: Re: 6 Coach Train. Eh? I can understand it if the train is on one engine as its up hill from reading but not as often as it seems to be happening - although maybe they are running single engined HST's more often, I dont know. here's a question..... When was the last time the 1922 ran as an adelante? And when did it last run two days in a row as one? The 3 car they put on is nearly always a rear 166 with 2 165 at the font - I dont know how that works in railway land. All I know is at the back you have the 166 first class and at the front you have the 165 first class and I dont know what you have in the middle other than you cant get to it from the rear car! Sorry Mookiemoo but expect this to happen more frequently in the short term as a 166/165 combination replaces Adelantes that are going off lease. Eventually they will run as HSTs but the refurb is running a few months late.here's a question..... When was the last time the 1922 ran as an adelante? You won't be the only one to suffer as FGW rob Peter to pay Paul as other Turbo services will run short formed so they can run a five coach service to your part of the world. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news. Aparantly there are posters that have gone up explaining this. I thought that FGW were continuing to lease all their Adelantes until the HST refurb was complete but have since heard that some are going off lease and heading into storage down at Eastleigh come the timetable change which is the same as what happened to us last December when they took stock off local 'West' services and massive overcrowding took place :( This page is printed from the "Coffee Shop" forum at http://gwr.passenger.chat which is provided by a customer of Great Western Railway.
