Title: West Wilts and surrounding area bus history sought
Post by: grahame on December 28, 2011, 09:26:57
I'm researching local bus history as part of a "brief history or transport and transport industries in the Melksham area" paper than I'm writing over the next few months - planned to be informally published as a booklet, and with old and new photos, diagrams, etc.

Does anyone have any old bus guides, books, references, photos, etc from West Wilts / Bath / Devizes / Chippenham that might help me ... full acknowledgements will of course be included.   I'm looking back to surprisingly recent times - it seems that there's very little local bus history indeed online.  It's almost as if buses didn't exist before the Web!

I suspect timetables etc might be found in your local reference library?....I'll be surprised if they're not archived....

Old bus timetables often seem to be deleted from most websites when a new timetable has been running instead for a bit, so I've not found out when some changes to bus services I was trying to find out about happened (mainly it was the operator who runs the service that changed).
