Yesterday, the West Wilts Rail User Group organised a guided walk from Bradford-on-Avon to Trowbridge, and we learned a great deal about the history of the railway, its stations, and the wider area of the towns and countryside from Rob Brown.  See http://wellho.info/3493

On 22nd November, the regular West Wilts Rail Users group meeting takes place at Bridge House, Trowbridge (by the station); coffees from 7 p.m., and a service update from Phil Dominey of South West Trains from 7:30 p.m. All welcome.   For more details of wwrug see http://www.wwrug.org.uk

Text of the West Wilts Rail User Group poster at Melksham station ...

Quote
The West Wilts Rail Users Group ia an independent association for all those keen to maintain and enhance rail services. Meetings during the year in local towns with prominent speakers from the rail industry, a regular Newsletter, a forum for airing your views and informing rail management of our needs as passengers.

West Wiltshire include Avoncliff, Bradford-on-Avon, Melksham, Trowbridge, Westbury, Dilton Marsh and Warminster, and the group's meetings usually happen in Bradford-on-Avon, Trowbridge or Warminster.  The group's membership secretary is Rob Brown, who can be reached c/o 30 Deverell Close, Southway Park, Bradford-on-Avon, BA15 1UZ.  Phone 01225 864221.

I'm a member of the group, and get along to meetings as and when I can.  I've registered an internet domain for them and it's currently pointed at this page ... I'll follow up with events as they come up, and be happy to tell you about email addresses, other web sites, a Facebook presence, etc, as the committee plans forward.  Other members (and non-members) are welcome to chip in here, of course!

Edit note: Contact telephone number amended (missing digit in area code). Chris from Nailsea.

Do you have something you would like to add to this thread, or would you like to raise a new question at the Coffee Shop? Please [register] (it is free) if you have not done so before, or login (at the top of this page) if you already have an account - we would love to read what you have to say!

You can find out more about how this forum works [here] - that will link you to a copy of the forum agreement that you can read before you join, and tell you very much more about how we operate. We are an independent forum, provided and run by customers of Great Western Railway, for customers of Great Western Railway and we welcome railway professionals as members too, in either a personal or official capacity. Views expressed in posts are not necessarily the views of the operators of the forum.

As well as posting messages onto existing threads, and starting new subjects, members can communicate with each other through personal messages if they wish. And once members have made a certain number of posts, they will automatically be admitted to the "frequent posters club", where subjects not-for-public-domain are discussed; anything from the occasional rant to meetups we may be having ...
