08:45 Swindon to Westbury due 09:26 is being delayed between Chippenham and Melksham.
This is due to congestion.

The 07:44 Whatley Quarry to Oxford running just under 20 minutes late. The 08:45 passenger service reported above was held at Thingley Junction and proceeded 20 minutes late as well. The London to Bristol express got stuck behing and is nearly quarter of an hour late.

It was a delight to see so much freight in my recent journeys on the continent - including using single track lines.  Plenty of loops, and with freight trains waiting for passenger services which are very rarely delayed at relatively numerous loops. Freight is necessary and makes a huge difference to the economics of the railway as a whole, sharing infrastructure costs for the benefit of both.  Electrify Chippenham - Westbury - the quarries and add a couple of loops between Chippenham and Trowbridge, flexibly signalled, and you're starting to solve the problems.

Additional TransWilts travel opportunity this morning...

07:52 London Paddington to Plymouth due 11:24 will be diverted between Reading and Westbury.
It will no longer call at Newbury and Pewsey but will call additionally at Swindon.
It has been previously delayed, is being further delayed between Reading and Westbury and is now expected to be 26 minutes late.
This is due to a points failure.

The 08:52 Paddington to Plymouth is also shown as diverting between Reading and Westbury but, as that one’s not booked to call at Pewsey, it appears it’ll be running through Swindon non-stop.

Looks like there is some last minute engineering work on the Golden Valley.   Tonight's final Swindon to Cheltenham trip has been replaced by a bus according to Journeycheck.

Yep, I think so - though it says "engineering works not finished on time" in the earlier report.  I'm inclined to agree with you bobm - with the nearest standard code having been applied even if only 85% right.
