Draft / proof is at:

http://atrebatia.info/TWRsummer-proofing.pdf

Inputs / corrections welcomed over the next 48 hours (i.e. until about Tuesday evening).

It will be printed on an A3 sheet and folded once then tri-folded, based very much on the successful formula used by many of the Commuting Rail services.   The bias varies somewhat as the TransWilts and this brochure is only a bit about bringing people in - it's a lot more about helping new users and residents get out ... and that's not quite the same situation as you would find everywhere.

Here's how it folds ...

A wide range of other tickets is available. For
further information about fares and times visit www.
firstgreatwestern.co.uk or call National Rail Enquiries on
08457 48 49 50.

Is it worth adding replacing "other tickets is available." with "other tickets and railcards offering discounts to eligible groups and individuals are available."   There isn't the room to spell them all out but it at least gives the nod to them.

I wonder whether the section on services from Melksham could be made simpler (and take up less space). I'm not sure all the detail about en route from, to and next stop is needed. How about:-

Northbound (to Chippenham and Swindon)
Mon to Fri: 0720, 048, 1104 etc
Sat:
Sun:

Southbound (to Trowbridge and Westbury)
etc

I also think the fare quote to London using GroupSave 4, ought to say so, else people who don't read the rest of the brochure might assume that a family of 4 could do it for ^52, ie ^25 per adult and ^1 per child.

I wonder whether space could be found to advertise the new Two Together Railcard, as most people - even seasoned train travellers, will be unfamiliar with it.

But it's an excellent leaflet as it is. Obviously a lot of thought has gone into it.

It's looking good!  Eye-catching, colourful with lots of useful information included.  I like the 'Summer Events' listing.

How is this brochure going to be distributed?  If you want some leg-work doing, for a house-to-house delivery, I'm quite happy to cover Berryfield and perhaps some of Bowerhill, once I'm fully mobile.

A lot of the distribution will be through the MIN (Melksham Independent News) ... but we'll certainly be ready, willing and able to use your help with distribution too - we're just drawing up final thoughts as to how we reinforce the message several times in the lead up to summer!

I've been checking every couple of days and it's still not appeared in the racks in Swindon ticket office. Lots of other leaflets about just about every Devon and Cornwall branch line, but not the Transwilts.

Thanks, John ... I wasn't sure if they had been and run out, or just not gone out.    They are on display in Chippenham and Westbury and as far afield (I understand) as Chandler's Ford - a batch out with our friends at Three Rivers  Wink
