Knorr-Bremse lands contracts for its Driver Advisory System

UK^▸ (United Kingdom): Knorr-Bremse has been awarded two contracts to fit its Leader Driver Advisory System to Bombardier diesel multiple-units operated by Govia's Southern and London Midland franchises. The operators are hoping to see improved timekeeping and a reduction in fuel consumption as a result of optimised driving techniques.

Knorr-Bremse are an international company, with their UK operation based in Melksham where they employ around 350 staff.  I was privileged to see a have a personal demonstration of this system from one of their technical experts a couple of months ago.  Rather chuffed about that, if I can borrow another member's handle!

Melksham firm rolls out train contract



Railway systems engineer Knoor-Bremse, based in Melksham, has been awarded a new contract to roll out its services across the country.

The firm, which has its headquarters in Bower-hill, will be fitting a state-of-the-art driver advisory system into 66 trains used by the London Midland and Southern railways companies.

More than 20 jobs being created in Melksham as Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems expands

Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems is creating more than 20 jobs at its works in Melksham and further posts are in the pipeline.

There are 360 people working in Melksham and the firm says its workforce continues to grow as the company experiences increased demand here and abroad for its systems and services.

In addition to the Melksham site Knorr-Bremse Rail Group operates three other major facilities around the UK^▸ (United Kingdom); at Burton-upon-Trent, at Springburn near Glasgow and at Wolverton near Milton Keynes.

In a statement the firm said: "With growing levels of business at all of these locations, including Melksham and more expansion on the horizon, the recruitment partners of Knorr-Bremse in the UK, C&D Group, based in Swindon, are currently recruiting more than twenty permanent vacancies for the Melksham site alone. More will follow in the very near future."

C&D is now recruiting for a board range of skills for Knorr-Bremse including a management accountant, project manager, innovation manager as well as buyers, quality engineers, systems engineers, electronic engineers and a variety of engineering vacancies.
