2  Journey by Journey / Bristol (WECA) Commuters / Bikes on trains on: September 20, 2011, 12:00:13
What are my chances of getting a bike (non-folding) on the train at Highbridge and getting of at Weston in the mornings (approx 08.00) and evenings (approx 16.30).  the 'restrictions' seem to be from weston on to bristol but how hevily loaded are the trains?
3  Journey by Journey / London to the West / Re: Brent Knoll Station on: August 09, 2011, 07:39:32
There still is (except it starts in Taunton)
4  Sideshoots - associated subjects / The Lighter Side / Re: Not *just* the location on: August 08, 2011, 19:24:47
there is a tony robinson look-a-like in picture 1 - are time team doing a special on FGW (First Great Western)?
5  Journey by Journey / Bristol (WECA) Commuters / Re: ATW 150's on Taunton Service on: July 05, 2011, 07:24:01
08.56 from Highbridge was an ATW (Arriva Trains Wales (former TOC (Train Operating Company))) 150 yesterday ( approx 08.30 from Taunton to Parkway) and there was another new paint job 9cannot remember which company) at Temple Meads yesterday afternoon
6  Journey by Journey / Bristol (WECA) Commuters / Golden Arrow at Temple Meads on: May 14, 2011, 07:31:33
Does anyone know what the rake of Pullman/Golden Arrow (Fleche d'or) coaches with attending locos was doing at temple meads yesterday afternoon - though it did make for a nice change especially the view from platform 10 with FGW (First Great Western) , southwest trains and this train all visable
7  Sideshoots - associated subjects / The Lighter Side / Re: Where was I this morning? on: May 10, 2011, 09:19:36
There used to be something like this at Highbridge and Burnham but I thought it gor relocated to an industrial estate roundabout, though stil on the site of the old S&DR carriage works - I presume there could be 2 and this is by the flats on the  east side of the mainline

10  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / getting to Chepstow on: September 30, 2010, 10:27:29
I'm confused - why is an anytime single at ^22.05 ( me and small person) from Weston to Chepstow @ 07.37 & 08.39 on 27/11/10 cheaper than the off peak fare of ^33.05 shown at 09.10 & 10.10. I presume any anytime ticket would be valid on the later routes unless the missing fact is that these take you to Cheltenham then south to chepstow, whilst the cheaper option is via the seemingly more sensible Severn Ttunnel Junction/newport route
11  All across the Great Western territory / The Wider Picture in the United Kingdom / Re: Statue for 'British Schindler' Sir Nicholas Winton at Maidenhead Station on: September 19, 2010, 08:39:57
There is a similar statue for Major Frank Foley, another 'british Schindler' in Highbridge, close to the station, though he also has a road named after him locally! ( as well as  a remembrance plaque was dedicated to him at the entrance to Stourbridge's Mary Stevens Park)
12  Sideshoots - associated subjects / The Lighter Side / Re: Journeys You Can Do with a Travelcard on: August 30, 2010, 08:28:22
Was the first Overground journey - Dalston junction to Shadwell?

DLR (Docklands Light Railway) & second overground journey make sense as well
13  Sideshoots - associated subjects / The Lighter Side / Re: European Miscellany on: June 14, 2010, 11:57:03
is A the level crossing just outside Poole ferry port?
14  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: What is the cheapest fare out of marylebone to anywhere on: April 16, 2010, 15:11:04
About ^ 2.45 to Wembley Statdium with a railcard, 5p cheaper to Harrow on the Hill after 7pm or a small random ammount using an Oyster (Smartcard system used by passengers on Transport for London services) card (especially if there has been other travelling...)

15  Sideshoots - associated subjects / The Lighter Side / Re: Longest (time wise) daytime journey wholly with FGW..... on: February 11, 2010, 10:05:09
