Title: Ongoing "person hit by train" toll
Post by: TaplowGreen on June 10, 2024, 14:48:21
Sadly, another "person hit by train" today.  I am copying the further advice from JourneyCheck here, as it provides a confirmation of the need to stop all trains and the request to see assistance if you need it - both on train and in general from the Samaritains.  Please look upthread for other sources of assistance

We are sorry for the delay to your journey today.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

It is with great sadness that we report a person has been struck by a train, leading to all lines being blocked. It is necessary to bring all trains in the affected area to an immediate stop. Where we can, we will divert trains to run on other lines around the affected area.

If you are onboard one of the services in this incident and are distressed by events, please do speak to a member of Train Crew for assistance. Alternatively, if you need to talk with someone privately the Samaritans offer a 24hr phone line available via 116 123.

At Maidenhead I believe?

There seems to have been a number of these incidents in the past few days.

Indeed ...

I have split this discussion from the original thread ( http://www.passenger.chat/6526 ) because that topic is where people who need help are directed and in my (editorial rights  ;) ) view we want them to find help. A discussion how common their problem is ... is welcome and needed in the generality of the forum, but IMHO probably not best "promoted to them when looking for assistance.

I am probably being pedantic with the split ... but if there's an even an improbable chance of it making just one difference, I felt it should be done.

I wholeheartedly agree, Graham.
